Assessment of food integrity culture in food businesses through method triangulation

Current food safety technological solutions and management systems need to be complemented with more-comprehensive integrity tools strategies address, control prevent fraud throughout the global supply chain. In this paper, novel construct of culture is introduced. Its definition presented its operationalization was investigated tested through method triangulation in a Belgian large-scale meat distribution company. The three applied proposed are: (1) climate (FIC) self-assessment tool which acknowledges company's employees' perceptions (human dimension), (2) key performance indicators interview verified objectively an on-site observation (operational (3) vulnerability diagnostic (SSAFE) evaluates opportunities motivations commit opposition organizational measures counteract it (technical managerial dimension). Since encompasses technical, operational aspects organization as well human factors, highlight different complementary culture, such subjective versus objective individual perspectives. Results confirmed hypothesis that company high perceived performance, overall low found. To achieve consolidated companies should include within their current regular assessments climate, potential vulnerabilities, managing human, operational, technical integrated system.
